There is a particular flavor of strange moving through the collective right now. Maybe you have felt it. The attention span of a fruit fly. A low hum of dread. A creeping suspicion your processing power is not what it once was.
In Classical Chinese medicine attention is related to digestion. And digestion includes more than food. It is everything we take in. Thoughts. Theories. Grief. Tweets. Hot takes. The emotional weather of the people we live with.
Your digestive system is the original data processing center. When it gets overloaded, things get messy.
Right now we are processing more in a day than most ancestors met in a season. Add in the now unchecked spread of a virus that gnaws on the nervous system. Add an oligarchy determined to automate critical thinking at the expense of the Earth. Add whatever personal plot twist life has handed you lately.
No wonder focus feels slippery.
When a system is exhausted, emptiness appears. Nature hates a vacuum: emptiness gets preyed upon. Physically, emotionally, intellectually. Sovereignty requires attention.
If you want to choose your future, you need your focus.
So let’s work on it together.
Let’s gather, breathe, look around, feel what is actually happening in our bodies, and build the capacity to direct our attention again.
On Sunday, December 7th, 2025 I’m hosting a two hour online workshop called Stay Sane.
We’ll explore the relationship between digestion, attention, and focus through Classical Chinese medicine and somatics. You’ll learn practical tools to steady yourself, lengthen your attention span, and stay human in a time that feels unhinged.
This is not a lecture: it is a collaborative somatic space. We won’t just talk about focus. We will feel about it. Together, we’ll stay sane, one breath at a time.
